The Katarmal Surya Temple is a 9th Century temple built by Katarmalla, a Katyuri King, and it exhibits the architectural style of ancient artisans. This Hindu temple is perched at an elevation of 2,116 metres above sea level and is situated at a distance of 19 kms from Almora city, in the state of Uttarakhand, India.
This Surya Mandir ( Sun Temple ) is also known as Badaditya (Baraditya) Temple.

The temple once boasted of intricate designs carved on its wooden doors and panels, making it the second most beautiful shrine in India after the Konark Sun Temple. However, after the theft of a 10th Century idol, the carved wooden doors and panels were transported to the National Museum New Delhi.
