Given the dramatic landscape, the photographic opportunities here are very different to those in, say Africa, and other parts of the world.
The Sujan Jawai camps: A pioneering conservation-tourism project, spectacularly set in one of India’s most enchanting wildernesses. With just ten luxurious tented suites SUJAN JAWAI offers an intimate escape into nature. Each suite is spacious, stylish, and private; designed to inspire you to disconnect, unwind, and reconnect with the wild in absolute comfort and serenity.
Included in the nightly rate are two wilderness drives a day in a shared jeep. Encounters with wildlife are punctuated by engagements with local communities and a deep immersion into the local culture. You will have the chance to visit local temples, walk through villages, hike the dramatic hills and see many of their conservation and community projects first hand. There are nearly 300 temples and shrines near the region.
DAY 2: Take the morning safari at 06:30 am. A mountainous terrain ride by jeep to reach the leopard caves. The duration of the safari is about 3 hours and the journey time from the camp is about 15 minutes.
The leopard safari: The Jawai Leopard Safari is a world-renowned wildlife experience, famous for its high probability of leopard sightings without fenced jungles. Unlike traditional national parks, leopards here coexist peacefully with local communities, making Jawai a rare ecological marvel. The safari takes you through rugged granite hills, caves, and riverbeds where leopards rest and hunt. Along the way, guests may also spot sloth bears, hyenas, jackals, crocodiles, over 250 species of birds, migratory birds, and desert foxes.
Return to the camp for a hearty breakfast. Post lunch, set out for the second safari which begins at 04:30 pm. Instead of fixed trails Jawai is instinctive and is guided by news of sightings and local intel. Spot a leopard basking in the golden evening sun. Hi-Tea will be served before the safari.
